Ranthambhore
Set
amidst the picturesque Aravalli and Vindhya ranges, variegated with dense deciduous
forests and dotted with lakes is Ranthambore, the perfect location for a wildlife
sanctuary. The Ranthambore National Park represents the outstanding efforts of
conservation and caring for nature. The Park is most famous for its population
of the royal Indian tigers but the other inhabitants are hyenas, sloth bears,
sambars, nilgais and crocodiles, among numerous others.

in Ranthambore The Ranthambore Fort is located within the Park. Built
in the 10th century, the fort is considered to be one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan.
There are splendid palaces in its premises. The Badal Mahal or the "Palace
of the Clouds" is probably the most famous and has the eighty-four column
chhatri of King Hammir.
Samode
It
is best to visit Samode on a day trip from Jaipur, which is just a 40kms drive
away. The Samode Palace is breathtaking. It was built in the 18th century and
is an architectural gem. The interiors are full of treasures including the intricately
carved walls and windows, beautiful frescoes, the splendid stained glass windows
and the exquisitely painted ceilings.

south side of the building has the famous Sheesh Mahal or Hall of Mirrors, which
is the biggest attraction of the Samode Palace. The Samode Bagh follows the famous
geometric style of the Mughal gardens. It has beautiful water fountains, fruit
trees, grapevines and luxuriously furnished tents.
Sawai
Madhopur
Sawai Madhopur is the gateway to the famous Ranthambhor National
Park. It is a small, market town and proves to be the ideal base for visiting
the Park. This location once served as the hunting retreat for the royal family.
Today, it represents the finest efforts at preserving the diverse flora and fauna.
Places
of Interest in Sawai Madhopur The Tiger Project - efforts to preserve
the Indian tiger - were concentrated here and it affords the best odds of spotting
the tiger as compared to the other sanctuaries in India. Several magnificent monuments
are located within the premises of the impressive Ranthambore Fort.
Shekhawati
The
Shekhawati region is the most gifted region in Rajasthan. It has come to be known
as the "Open-air art gallery", as it has an profusion of beautiful architectural
wonders. Between the 18th and 20th century, art and architecture flourished in
this region and made one of the richest artistic contributions to Rajasthan.
Places
of Interest in Shekhawati "Havelis" (mansions) were built that
are fine examples of a distinct and graceful architectural style. The walls of
these havellis were adorned with beautiful frescoes and colorful murals.
