Special Christmas Tour 2008( FIXED DEPARTURE TOUR )

Destinations Covered : Delhi - Agra - Bharatpur - Jaipur - Samode - Delhi

Day 01: 21st Dec. 2008: Arrive in Delhi.
Arrive in Delhi International airport by any convenient flight. Welcome to India! Your Tour Manager and Airport Representative in the arrival area of the airport will meet you after you clear all immigration and customs formalities. Transfer to hotel your pre-booked hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: 22nd Dec. 2008: Delhi.
After breakfast at the hotel proceed for a full day tour of Old and New Delhi. In 1650, The Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan shifted the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jahan possessing an exquisite talent, especially in architecture, created the seventh city and in the process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance.

Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jahan's symbol of power and elegance, built behind sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue heading west from the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and crowded bazaars.

Next visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful market of the old city. Chandni Chowk, the commercial centre of Delhi in olden times, comes alive in the morning as the trading day starts.

New Delhi was designed and built by the British in the 1920's - it's a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. In 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The King's architects, Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, set in motion the design and construction of Delhi's eighth city - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have the British pack up and relinquish the subcontinent in 1947.

You will visit two monuments from Delhi's past - Humayun's Tomb and Qtub Minar. Your drive takes you along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Also visit the local Bahai Temple {Lotus Temple}. After an interesting day, return to the hotel for the overnight stay.

Day 03: 23rd Dec. 2008: Delhi / Agra 210 Kms / 04-05 Hours.
After breakfast at the hotel, leave Delhi and drive to Agra. En route stop at the famous tomb of Akbar "Sikandra". After visiting Sikandra continue driving to Agra. Upon arrival in Agra, check in at the hotel.

Agra was the capital of the grand Mughal Empire in the 16th & 17th centuries. During this period the city became a leading centre of art, science, commerce and culture. The city's origins are faint but Akbar's grandfather Babur is credited with Agra's founding. The short golden age of Agra came to an end with the seventeenth century reign of Shah Jahan, the mastermind behind the world famous Taj Mahal.

Visit the famous monument of love the Taj Mahal. The evening is free for leisure.Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: 24th Dec. 2008: Agra / Bharatpur 95 Kms / 02-03 Hours.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Bharatpur, on the way you will visit Fatehpur Sikri - the deserted red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital. Ponder the mysterious desertion of this capital city that was dramatically abandoned a few years after it was built. It was a veritable fairy tale city and its 'ruins' are still in a pristine condition. It is not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur.

After visiting Fatehpur Sikri continue driving to Bharatpur, upon arrival in Bharatpur, check in at the hotel.
In the afternoon visit the "Ghana Bird Sanctuary"; you can also take a bicycle ride inside the sanctuary. Return back to hotel for the night.

Day 05: 25th Dec. 2008: Bharatpur/Jaipur/Samode 185 Kms /04-05 Hrs.
After breakfast, drive to "Jaipur, The Pink city of Rajasthan". Check in at one of the most luxurious heritage hotels at Samode, which is about 30 km from Jaipur city. The rest of the day is free to explore Samode. The 400 years old palace has a wealth of frescoes, many of them depicting religious subjects. The palace converted into a hotel, is a beautiful building built on three levels, each with its own courtyard. The highlight of the building is the absolutely brilliant Diwan-I-Khas, which is covered with original paintings and mirror work. It is probably the finest example of its kind in the country. Evening enjoy the Christmas Party in royal style at the Samode Palace. Stay overnight at the Samode Palace.

Day 06: 26th Dec. 2008: Samode / Jaipur. 45 Kms / 01 Hour
In the morning after breakfast, drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival in Jaipur, check in at the hotel. Leave your baggage at the hotel and proceed to depart for a half-day excursion to Amber Fort, 11 Kms. from Jaipur, Amber Fort is a marvelous example of Rajput architecture, with its terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below. Go up the fort on the back of a gaily-caparisoned elephant, true to the style of the Maharajas of the past. The interior of the fort has various royal halls decorated with intricate ivory, mirror and glasswork complemented by exquisite wall paintings. As you move between the rooms of this magnificent structure, you will feel the history and visualize the pomp and grandeur of a kingdom never conquered.

After the tour, return to the hotel to relax or visit a restaurant in the city for an enjoyable lunch.

At around 2 p.m. venture back into the city, for a tour of Jaipur. This afternoon you will visit the City Palace Museum where you can see an articulate blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art. The museum is dazzling with its collection of robes of royal princesses, carpets, an armoury of old weapons, miniature paintings portraying court scenes, battle scenes and processions. Next visit the awe inspiring Jantar Mantar (an accurate observatory built in 1726 AD). Included in the tour is a photo visit at the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - a five-storied wonder with a spectacular pyramidal facade and overhanging windows with latticed screens, domes and spires. In the evening, visit the Choki Dhani, village resort, which is approximately 35 kms from Jaipur. We shall arrange a Rajasthani Dinner with cultural Rajasthani Dance. Return to the hotel for the night.
