History of Akshardham Temple Jaipur

Akshardham temple does not have a mythological history as it is a modern temple that was built between the 19th and 20th centuries. In which the idol of Lord Narayan was installed.

Akshardham Temple is surrounded by lush green gardens and fountains. The walls of the temple are beautifully decorated with a number of Hindu deity idols and carvings which look amazing. There are three major mandapams in this complex – Hari Mandapam, Vibhuti Mandapam and Prasadi Mandapam.

The Hari Mandapam houses a seven feet tall idol of Lord Swaminarayan (Lord Vishnu) made of gold leaf which is decorated with gold and silver ornaments. The second mandapam, the Vibhuti Mandapam, has brass lotuses, while the prasad mandapam houses the sacred relics of Lord Swaminarayan. The complex also has a small cafe and a playground for children.

Akshardham Temple is open for tourists from 7.30 am to 12.00 noon and from 04.00 pm to 8.15 pm while it is closed every Monday.
