Kolayat lake is located in Kolayat town of the Bikaner district of Rajasthan. this is one of the major tourist destinations of Bikaner. This Lake is also known as the “Beautiful Garden of Rajasthan”. Kolayat is about 52 km from Bikaner district headquarters. Both roads and railroads can be used to reach Kolayat.

This Lake is a sweet water lake, near which was the ashram of Kapil Muni, the pioneer of ancient Sankhya philosophy. Kolayat lake is the taposthali of Kapil Muni. Due to this, Kapil Muni’s fair fills every year on Kartik Purnima (November Month). People of the Charan society do not go here. This ashram of Kolayat Kapil Muni is located on National Highway 15.
This lake was originated by Kapil Muni for the liberation of his mother.
