Kolayat Lake is located in Kolayat town of Bikaner district of Rajasthan. It is one of the major tourist places of Bikaner and is also called the “Beautiful Garden of Rajasthan“.
Kolayat town is about 52 km away from Bikaner district headquarters. Both road and railway can be used to reach Kolayat Bikaner.
Bathing in this lake is considered sacred from a religious point of view. That is why people keep coming here. There are many ghats built here for bathing, surrounded by peepal trees. It is called the ‘beautiful oasis’ of the desert. It is an important religious place. There are 52 ghats located in this lake.
Kolayat Fair Bikaner
This lake is a freshwater lake, Kapil Muni’s ashram was here in ancient times, due to which Kapil Muni’s fair is held every year on Kartik Purnima (November month). Kolayat Lake is the place of penance of Kapil Muni. Due to this, Kapil Muni’s fair is held here every year on Kartik Purnima. This ashram of Kolayat Kapil Muni is located on National Highway 15.
This lake was created by Kapil Muni for the liberation of his mother.
Lamps are lit in Kolayat Lake. There is a Shiva temple nearby, which has 12 Shivlingas.
There are Peepal trees around Kolayat Lake. Which makes the environment even more beautiful and picturesque.
