Kishan Bagh is an unusual ecological park, which was established by the Jaipur Development Authority by restoring and rewilding a huge dune in the southwestern foothills of Nahargarh fort. Located outside the city of Jaipur, it is an ideal place for nature lovers as well as those wishing to explore the distinctive ecology of Rajasthan.
Kishan Bagh is developed on the outskirts of the city and has been done as part of an initiative that helps preserve and present the indigenous desert landscape. The main attraction of the park is the natural shrubland known as ‘Roi’ in Marwari.
Creation and Origin of Kishan Bagh Desert Park Jaipur
Kishan Bagh was designed and articulated as an ecological restoration project to preserve the desert ecosystem. It was built to provide its visitors with a true experience of Rajasthan’s desert landscapes while raising awareness about desert ecology. The restoration project was carried out by a team of ecological restoration practitioners and architects who have experience and are familiar with the Thar Desert.
History of Kishan Bagh Desert Park Jaipur
The rejuvenation work of Kishan Bagh began in the monsoon of 2016. Kishan Bagh was inaugurated by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in December 2021 and soon became a popular tourist attraction for the residents of Jaipur.
