Located in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan in India, the Brahma Temple Pushkar is the most famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Brahma, who is believed to be the creator of the universe.
The Brahma Temple Pushkar is the only Brahma temple in India. Where every year lakhs of pilgrims come to see Lord Brahma.
This temple was built around the 14th century. This temple of Brahma Ji is believed to be about 2000 years old. Initially, this temple was started by the sage Vishwamitra, after which this temple was renovated several times under Adi Shankaracharya.
The Pushkar Lake flowing in front of the Brahma temple makes it even more sacred. Devotees get wonderful peace by visiting the Brahma temple and taking a dip in Pushkar Lake.
Brahma Temple Pushkar Rajasthan
There is a legend of the Brahma temple located in Pushkar, according to which once Lord Brahma wanted to perform Yagya peacefully without any hindrance of the demons, for which he was in search of a quiet place.
When Brahma Ji was looking for a quiet place, a lotus flower fell from his hand in Pushkar, after which he decided to perform a Yagya in Pushkar.
Unfortunately, when Lord Brahma was going to perform the Yagya, his wife Savitri was not with him, so he married Gayatri, a girl from the Gurjar community, and performed all the rituals of the Yagya with her.
But when Savitri saw her husband marrying another woman, she became enraged and cursed Brahma that he would not be worshiped anywhere by his devotees.
Therefore, Pushkar is the only temple where Brahma Ji is fulfilled, apart from this, there is no temple of Brahma Ji anywhere in India and neither is he worshiped.
The Lord Brahma temple situated on a raised platform can be reached with the help of marble steps. At the top of the main gate, the idol of the swan, the vehicle of Lord Brahma, is seen.
From the Main Gate to the Main Hall, also known as the Mandap. Then after this, there is a sanctum where Brahma Ji resides. A beautiful tortoise made of marble in the temple can be seen towards the sanctum.
The black and white marble is filled with hundreds of silver coins offered to Lord Brahma by the devotees. The walls here are adorned with attractive images of peacocks and Goddess Saraswati. There is also a silver door inside this temple which leads to a small cave that houses the temple of Lord Shiva.
The idol of Lord Brahma is called Chaumurti because this idol has four faces. This idol of Brahma JI is situated with four legs and four hands and his four faces are facing in four different directions. Savitri is seated on his right and Gayatri is on his left with Lord Brahma’s idol sitting among his wives.
Brahma Temple In India
There are three types of worship in the Brahma temple Pushkar, the first of which is the Sandhya Aarti which is performed after sunset. The second puja is Shayanarati around 5 hours after sunrise and the last Mangla Aarti is performed in the early morning, 2 hours before sunrise.
The priests of the temple follow strict religious rules during all these puja aartis. The most striking feature of the temple is that married men are not allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum. Only priests who are ascetics can worship here.
One of the most religious festivals of India, the Pushkar Fair is held in Pushkar on the full moon night of the Hindu lunar month of Kartik on Kartik Poornima (October – November).
This fair attracts a huge crowd of tourists and devotees. The city of Pushkar comes alive with many exciting activities during this fair. During this five-day-long festival, devotees take a dip in the holy Pushkar Lake and several special rituals are performed at the Brahma temple.

Temple opening hours during winter – 6:30 am to 8:30 pm
Temple opening hours during summer – 6:00 am to 9:00 pm
The temple is closed between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm.
