Kota Barrage, also known as Kota Barrage Dam, Kota Barrage Project was built with the objective of storing the water of all three dams namely Rana Pratap Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam, and Gandhi Sagar Dam.
Kota Barrage is one of the major attractions of Kota which attracts a large number of tourists. It is a water control structure located on the Chambal River in Kota City of Rajasthan, India. It was constructed to control the flow of water and provide irrigation and drinking water supply to the region.

The primary objective of the Kota Barrage is to control and regulate the flow of the Chambal River. It helps prevent flooding during heavy rainfall and releases water during the dry season to ensure a steady water supply for irrigation and drinking purposes.
The Kota Barrage Dam covers a total catchment area of 27,332 square kilometers. The primary support of the barrage is the Jawahar Sagar Dam which holds 99 million cubic meters. There is a 188 cubic meter discharge capacity canal on the right side of the concrete spillway and a 42 cubic meter discharge capacity canal on the left side. There are 19 gates to control the flow of water in the Kota Barrage Dam which forms a bridge over the Chambal River.
The construction of Kota Barrage started in 1957 and was completed in 1960. It is a concrete dam with several gates that can be opened or closed to control the flow of water. The barrage is about 1,174 m long and has a height of about 18 m.
According to an agreement after the construction of the Kota Barrage Dam was completed in 1960, 50% of the Kota Barrage’s water goes to Madhya Pradesh. Through this scheme, 50% of the water in M.P. Is given so that M.P. About 11300 acres of land are benefitted. At present, about 20,000 acres of agricultural land are irrigated with the water received from here.
