Located near Sumerpur town in Pali district of Rajasthan state of India, the Jawai Bandh dam is an important tourist destination with water supply. The Jawai Dam is built on the Jawai River, a tributary of the Luni River, which is more than 70 years old. Jawai Dam is one of the largest dams in Rajasthan. This dam plays an important role in the supply of water to the cities around it. Of which the Jawai dam of Jodhpur and Pali districts is the main drinking water source.
Jawai the dam is also known as Amrit Sarovar or Man Sarovar of Marwar.

History of Jawai dam
The construction of the Jawai dam was started by Maharaja Umaid Singh of the princely state of Jodhpur on May 12, 1946. Which was completed in 1957. During the princely period, this dam was constructed under the supervision of state engineers Edgar and Ferguson. After the formation of Rajasthan, this dam was completed in 1956 under the supervision of Chief Engineer Moti Singh.
The total expenditure in the construction of the Jawai dam was Rs 27 million. The dam is spread over an area of about 500 sq km. The Jawai Dam is the largest dam in western Rajasthan with a capacity of 7887.5 million cubic feet. Let us tell you that Sei Dam and Kalibor Dam are feeder dams of Jawai Dam.
The SEI project was created in Kotda tehsil of Udaipur for the water supply of the Jawai dam.

If there is sufficient water in the dam, some villages in the Jalore district and Pali district get water from the Jawai dam for irrigation, which was the main objective in constructing this dam.
Ranakpur-Jawai Dam Festival is organized on the Jawai Dam in the month of December, in which various attractive programs are included. These include Yoga, Nature Wark, Kemal Polo as well as the Gypsy and Cycle Safari Festival in the sanctuary. Various programs of folk artists are presented during this period. And various competitions and attractive activities are also organized.
